Academic advising at M State is an educational partnership focused on student success. Students work with advisors to develop a plan to achieve their academic and career goals while making informed and increasingly independent decisions.

Who is my advisor?
M State has program faculty advisors and academic advisors. You will be assigned an advisor based on your program of study. You can easily find your advisor's name on the SpartanNet homepage.
Meeting with your advisor
Advisors will help you with:

- Interpreting your degree audit

- Connecting to tutoring, counseling and accessibility resources

To maximize academic advising:
- Become familiar with your program plan (it's listed on your program page)
- Review your degree audit to see which courses you need to complete your degree
- Search the class schedule to select courses you'd like to take
- Examine your academic interests and clarify your career goals before and during your appointment

How do I set up an appointment?
- Click on your advisor's name in SpartanNet to open their directory page
- Click on their scheduling link and schedule an appointment
During the busiest times of the semester, academic advisors will meet with you on a first-come, first-serve drop-in or call-in basis. Advisors also are available throughout the semester for quick questions during designated drop-in/call-in times.
